In Vcenter, for configuring Esxi Host Power management (configure tab, power management) I needed an easy way to get both ip and mac address. A quick search got me a powershell script for use under powercli. I didn’t have powercli installed on my newer workstation so.. here’s the process.
Download the latest PowerCli (https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/details?downloadGroup=PCLI650R1&productId=614#) and install.
Open the PowerCli window and run this script from wherever you saved it.. (https://github.com/alpacacode/Homebrewn-Scripts/blob/master/vmware-scripts/Get-CIMProperties.ps1). I found the script through a forum post at https://communities.vmware.com/thread/505300?start=0&tstart=0
. ./Get-CimProperties.ps1 get-CimProperties
It’ll prompt you for hostname and your ESXi username/pass (root) then return your results.
Back in Vcenter, you can then enter your ILO username/pass and ILO ip/mac address which it will verify.
